About Me
I was born and raised here in Windsor. My post-secondary education began at St. Clair College where I completed both the Developmental Disabilities and Youth Care Worker programs. Employment experience included Maryvale and The Inn.
Early in my career, I lived in Fort Wayne Indiana where I worked in a setting that provided life skills and employment training to developmentally challenged adults.
In 1985 I relocated to the Las Vegas Valley. Due to the unique cultural and economic make-up of this community, it was rich in opportunities for personal and professional growth. I had a fulfilling career as a Rehabilitation Counsellor and Social Worker. My work included the development and implementation of training programs for developmentally delayed infants, children and adults. I provided advocacy, case management and counselling for individuals who acquired neurological and/or physical deficits as the result of catastrophic injuries or illness. As a Medical Social Worker in the county hospital and trauma center, I had the privilege of working with the culturally and economically diverse local population, as well as visitors from all over the world. The tourist and convention industry attracted experts from all over the country, thus providing a plethora of opportunities for professional continuing education.
In 2014 I decided to pursue the Professional Clinical Counsellor Licensure, allowing me to diagnose and treat mental illness. Before practicing independently, I completed a two year internship with mentors and supervisors who could provide me with the training I needed to work effectively with both adults and children.
I returned home to Windsor in 2017. As a Registered Social Worker in Ontario I can no longer diagnose, but I can continue to use my knowledge and skills to help adults and children to overcome challenges.
